Dundee neighbors! We’ve got some exciting news for you. You can give your old pumpkins a new life by composting them right here at Dundee Bank after Halloween.
Starting from Wednesday, November 1st to Sunday, November 12th, we’re opening our parking lot to welcome your pumpkins back into the circle of life. If you’re in Dundee, simply drop off your pumpkins in the South parking lot behind our branch at 5015 Underwood Ave.
Hillside Solutions, our trusted local partner, will be collecting all these pumpkins and delivering them to Little Mountain Ranch & Garden in Fort Calhoun, where they will be fed to their forest-ranging pigs. This creates a full circle of sustainability—your discarded pumpkins nourish the pigs, aiding in their health and vitality, while reducing food waste and supporting local agriculture. It’s a wonderful way to make a positive impact, ensuring that what once made a delightful jack-o’-lantern becomes an enriching meal for these animals, contributing to a healthier and more sustainable environment for everyone involved.
Here are the guidelines for pumpkins:
- No glitter or painted pumpkins
- No metal or plastic trash bags
- Please remove candles and non-pumpkin pieces
Please note that we’re also accepting melons and gourds!
